History:

Arne Jacobsen designed this chair, called the Egg Chair, for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1958

The complete chair contains no straight lines but only curves and therefore acts organically.

The backrest is higher than traditional wingback chairs. In 1958 Jacobsen also designed a matching ottoman for the Egg chair.

Aalto, Alvar

Alvar Aalto (1898 – 1976), mit vollem Namen Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto, war ein finnischer Designer und Architekt. Seine außergewöhnlichen Konzeptionen waren zum großen Teil im Bereich des organischen Bauens angesiedelt. Er war beeinflusst durch den Deutschenwerkbund und von Bauhaus.

Besondere Berühmtheit errang insbesondere die sogenannte Aalto-Vase, auch der Schwingsessel No. 31 und der Hocker No. 60 erreichten eine höhere Bekanntheit.
